ATP measurement

The ATP (adenosine triphosphate) level in a soil sample provides a measure of biomass and hygiene levels. It is measured using an ATP-meter an ATP test through a light reaction called ATP bioluminescence. For surface cleaning checks, an ATP swab test is used, consisting of a test tube with a pre-moistened swab and a liquid reagent. For water samples, a dipper is used instead.
