Calibration of an ATP-meter
An ATP-meter be checked at least once a year to ensure it is functioning properly. Hygiene Diagnostics can perform calibrations on Clean-Trace all models: LM1, LX25, NG, NGi), Accupoint Advanced NG, and Hygiena’s SystemSURE™plus.
The following tasks are performed during calibration:
- Clean as needed
- Functional checks
- Battery replacement/wake-up if necessary
- Memory may be erased (unless otherwise specified at the time of order)
- Calibration check against the manufacturer's specifications
- Calibration of the sensor against a standard (not available on SystemSure and Accupoint). Clean-Trace™calibration is performed using an optical standard traceable to the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
- Software/Firmware Updates
- Certificates are issued

Repairs are performed based on a quote. If a built-in battery (rechargeable Li-ion battery) is replaced, the cost of the battery will be charged.
The processing time is one week via regular mail. If you need an ATP-meter the meantime, you can borrow ATP-meter us.

Calibration of pH meters
pH meters are relatively easy to calibrate. Most modern pH meters have an automatic calibration function that uses standard buffer solutions with pH values of 4.01, 7.01, and 10.01. You can purchase these buffer solutions from Hygiene Diagnostics. See our online store for an overview.
You should generally always have a pH 7 buffer on hand to determine the offset (neutral) point. The other two buffer solutions may be optional depending on your measurement range. This means that if the samples are basic, then pH 7 and pH 10 buffers should be used. If you only have acidic sample solutions, pH 4 and pH 7 buffers are sufficient. Always use fresh buffer solution for each calibration.
Calibration should be performed regularly:
- At least once a week when measuring daily in acidic or alkaline solutions.
- At least once a month when measuring in clean water.
- Always when replacing the battery or the electrode.
The pH meter’s electrode wears out over time and should be replaced if it can no longer be calibrated. Its service life is typically between 1 and 3 years, depending on how often it is used and how well it is maintained. A new electrode for the Hannas™ pH meter can be ordered from Hygiene Diagnostics. If the pH meter is not used regularly, it is best for the electrode’s lifespan to store it in Hanna’s storage solution HI70300 (4M KCl). Another option is to store the electrode in a small amount of pH buffer 4.01 or 7.01. Acidic storage is preferable, however, as this prevents bacterial growth. If you still have the protective rubber cap for the pH meter, you can fill it with the storage solution. NOTE: Never store the electrode in distilled or deionized water, as this can damage the electrode.
Calibration of a conductivity meter
It is relatively easy to calibrate a conductivity meter, as these meters have an automatic calibration function. The measurement range of different models of conductivity meters determines which calibration solution you need.
You can choose between a solution of 1,413 μS/cm (low range) or 12,880 μS/cm (high range). You can purchase solutions from Hygiene Diagnostics. See our online store for an overview.
