RIWAC – Rinse Water Collector for ATP of Washer-Disinfectors
RIWAC (Rinse Water Collector, also known as “Fågelbadet”) is used in conjunction with Clean-trace and ATP-meter monitor the cleaning process in a dishwasher-disinfector.
Description
RIWAC (Rinse Water Collector) is a stainless steel process challenge device (PCD) used to collect ATP from a dishwasher. After a cycle, the water sample is collected from inside the cup by carefully lifting the lid using the included holder.
The RIWAC consists of two components: a funnel and a cup that are assembled and placed inside a dishwasher before a cycle begins. The funnel is wide enough that water can only reach the cup through it. The entire assembly is designed so that it does not tip over during the washing process. During a wash cycle, water is collected by the funnel and flows into the cup. The funnel outlet extends almost to the bottom of the cup. The bottom of the rinse water collector is designed so that the water in the cup is pushed upward and out of the cup. Thus, at the end of a cycle, the cup essentially contains the final rinse water, which can then be analyzed for ATP.
