Description

The TST Load Check Control Indicator is used to verify steam penetration in actual sterilization loads during steam sterilization. The system is designed as a Process Challenge Device (PCD) and combines a helical design with TST Control indicators to simulate critical sterilization conditions.

Unlike tests performed in an empty chamber, the Load Check is placed at the center of the load, where steam penetration is most challenging. This allows for a direct assessment of whether sterilization conditions have been achieved under real-world conditions.

The system is based on a helical barrier through which steam must penetrate a lumen to reach the indicator. When the correct combination of temperature, time, and saturated steam is achieved, a distinct color change from yellow to blue/purple occurs. An uneven color change indicates insufficient steam penetration and that the load cannot be considered sterile.

This model is calibrated for two different sterilization cycles, making it flexible for facilities that use both 134 °C and 121 °C programs. This makes the product particularly suitable for mixed sterilization environments where different processes are used.

The product is used to support decisions regarding the release of sterilized goods and as part of routine process control.
