Good hand hygiene is essential for reducing the spread of infection in healthcare, food production, and other hygiene-critical settings. Despite clear procedures, experience shows that compliance is often lacking.
The problem is simple: you know what needs to be done—but you lack a way to verify how well it’s actually being done.
From routine to verified quality
What is missing in traditional training is objective feedback. Semmelweis Scanner changes this by making hand hygiene measurable.
After applying a training fluid, place your hands in the scanner, where each surface is analyzed at the pixel level. The results are displayed immediately as a visual map showing coverage and missed areas.
Instead of assuming that the technology is correct, the user receives a concrete answer.
Immediate feedback that changes behavior
The scanner provides immediate feedback with a clear visualization of clean and missed areas, as well as an objective pass/fail rating.
This creates a direct link between performance and results. The user can see exactly what needs to be improved—in real time.
It is this kind of feedback that drives real behavioral change, not more instructions.
Fast, standardized, and scalable
A full scan takes about 30 seconds and is completely contactless.
The results are automatically saved and can be tracked in an analytics and reporting system. This makes it possible to:
• track progress over time
• compare across departments or groups
• ensure that procedures are not just in place—but actually work
This makes the scanner as much a quality tool as it is an educational tool.
From training to monitoring
The Semmelweis Scanner is used not only for training, but also to standardize hand hygiene at the organizational level. The system combines visual feedback, data collection, and follow-up into a seamless workflow. The result is a shift from subjective assessment to objective verification.
