Petrifilm™ Lactic Acid Bacteria Count Plates (LAB)

Petrifilm™ Lactic Acid Bacteria Count Plates are a complete, ready-to-use culture system for quantifying lactic acid bacteria. The plate contains a dehydrated culture medium with nutrients, selective components, and an indicator dye, allowing for direct inoculation without the need to prepare agar.

The system uses oxygen-consuming technology and oxygen barriers to create an internal anaerobic environment under standard incubation conditions. This enables the efficient recovery of both homofermentative and heterofermentative lactic acid bacteria without the need for anaerobic chambers or gas packs.

The method has been validated against reference methods and is widely used in the food and process industries to monitor product quality and shelf life.
