Description

Neogen® Demi Fraser Broth Base is a dehydrated selective broth medium for the primary enrichment of Listeria ., including Listeria , from food products and production environments. The medium has been developed in accordance with ISO and is used in food microbiology for the routine analysis of Listeria raw materials, finished products, and environmental samples.

The medium contains selective components such as acriflavine, nalidixic acid, and lithium chloride to inhibit competing bacteria while Listeria grow. Esculin is used as an indicator substrate and reacts with ferriammonium citrate to produce a black coloration in the presence of Listeria.

Demi Fraser is typically used as the first enrichment step prior to transfer to Fraser Broth and selective agar plates, such as chromogenic Listeria. The product is suitable for both traditional culture methods and immunological assay methods such as ELISA.
