Chemdye® Bowie-Dick Test Pack – Early Warning

The Chemdye® Bowie-Dick Test Pack is used to verify that vacuum-assisted steam sterilizers are functioning properly. The test detects insufficient air removal, air leaks, and inadequate steam penetration—issues that cannot otherwise be identified using the autoclave’s own process data.

The test pack consists of a chemical indicator sheet placed between porous materials and designed to simulate a critical load. If the process is performed correctly, a uniform color change occurs across the entire indicator. An uneven color indicates trapped air or a process error.

The product is used daily before the first cycle, as well as after installation, maintenance, or operational disruptions, to ensure that the sterilization process is valid before use.
