Chemdye® Bowie-Dick Test Pack

The Chemdye® Bowie-Dick Test Pack is used to verify that vacuum-assisted steam sterilizers are functioning properly before they are put into service. The test identifies residual air, inadequate air removal, and deviations in steam quality that cannot be detected through temperature or pressure data.

The test pack consists of a standardized porous package with a chemical indicator sheet placed in the center, which simulates a critical load. When functioning properly, a uniform color change occurs across the entire indicator. An uneven or incomplete color change indicates air pockets or a process error.

The product is used daily before the first sterilization cycle, as well as after maintenance, installation, or operational disruptions, to ensure that the process is approved before the load is released.
