Neogen® Molecular Detection Assay 2 – STEC Gene Screen (stx and eae)
LAMP screening test for the rapid detection of STEC virulence genes (stx1/stx2 and eae) in enriched food samples.
Description
Neogen Detection Assay 2 – STEC Gene Screen (stx and eae) is a molecular test for screening Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) by detecting the virulence genes stx1, stx2, and eae in enriched samples. The method is based on isothermal amplification (LAMP) combined with bioluminescence, which enables rapid and specific DNA detection.
The assay is performed after enrichment (typically 10–18 hours) and provides results within approximately 60 minutes after the start of the PCR run. The result is presumptive and requires confirmation using standard methods.
The test is optimized for food matrices and is primarily used for screening raw meat and other high-risk products in food production.
Features
- LAMP DNA detection (isothermal amplification)
- Screening for virulence genes: stx1, stx2, and eae
- Rapid analysis after enrichment (≈60 min of instrument time)
- High specificity through genetic target detection
- Preliminary result – requires confirmation
- Compatible with the Neogen Detection System (MDS)
- Ability to analyze multiple pathogens from the same enrichment
