Dipslide – Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacteriaceae

Dipslide is a selective combination test for the detection of Staphylococcus aureus and Enterobacteriaceae in food production, healthcare settings, and other hygiene-critical environments. The test is used for targeted monitoring of hygiene indicators related to both personal hygiene and process-related contamination.

The dip slide is coated with two selective culture media: Baird Parker Agar for the detection of Staphylococcus aureus and VRBG Agar for the selective detection of Enterobacteriaceae. This allows for the simultaneous analysis of two key indicator organisms in a single test.

After incubation, characteristic colony growth develops on each side, allowing for semi-quantitative assessment using a reference chart. Staphylococcus aureus typically appears as dark colonies, while Enterobacteriaceae produce colored colonies depending on the medium.

This method is used for screening and verifying cleaning and disinfection in environments where both contact contamination (e.g., from staff) and process contamination need to be controlled.
