Megazyme™ α-Amylase Assay Kit (Ceralpha Method)

The Megazyme™ α-Amylase Assay Kit (Ceralpha Method) is an enzymatic assay kit for the specific determination of α-amylase activity in cereal-based samples, flour, and fermentation broths. The method is based on the Ceralpha principle with absorbance measurement at 400 nm and is suitable for laboratories that require an established and selective method for the analysis of α-amylase.

Description

The Megazyme™ α-Amylase Assay Kit (Ceralpha Method) is designed for the quantitative determination of α-amylase in, for example, cereal flour, cereal samples, and fermentation broths. The method uses a defined oligosaccharide substrate, blocked p-nitrophenyl maltoheptaoside, together with thermostable α-glucosidase. When the substrate is hydrolyzed by α-amylase, free reaction products are formed that can be measured spectrophotometrically at 400 nm.

The kit is intended for laboratories that wish to measure α-amylase with high method-specificity and in accordance with well-established standard methods. Megazyme specifies the product Megazyme suitable for the analysis of cereal samples and fermentation broths, and the method is recognized under, among others, AOAC .01, AACC 22-02.01, and ICC Standard No. 303. The total analysis time is stated as approximately 30 minutes.
